We also manage Abbie Lane Courts and Fourteen Pines Apartments where your rent is typically based on 30 % of your adjusted gross income. We also manage Village Oaks Apartments and the Firwood Apartments where residents pay a flat affordable rent.
In subsidized public housing or multi-family housing units, first preference is given to single individuals
who are either elderly or disabled, or to families with children. Firwood Apartments is the only
complex where we can house single individuals who are neither elderly nor disabled. At Village
Oaks, we will also house single full-time students, but one-bedroom units at this complex are rarely

Most of our housing programs have income guidelines. In general we are looking for applicants who will be good neighbors, pay their rent on time and take care of their homes. The intake process typically involves a background check and landlord reference checks. If you have a criminal background, do not have landlord references or have poor reference, you may still qualify. We can discuss your specific situation during the Intake process.
In our Public Housing Program and at both Fourteen Pines and Abbie Lane, your rent is based on 30% of your adjusted gross income. Rents at Village Oaks Apartments and Firwood Apartments rents are set at an affordable flat rate. You will need to have enough income to pay the flat rent to quality at these complexes.
Move-in costs for public housing include a deposit ranging from $275 for a one-bedroom unit to
$425 for a two-bedroom unit, and $575 for a three-bedroom unit, and $650 for a four-bedroom
unit. At Abbie Lane and Fourteen Pines, the deposit is $50 or the monthly rent, whichever is greater.
Along with the deposit, new residents will pay only a pro-rated first month’s rent. The leases are
month-to-month, and there are never any fees for applying for our programs.
Federal law prohibits housing authorities from renting to registered sex offenders, or to people who
have manufactured methamphetamines in a subsidized unit. Otherwise, we review criminal histories
on an individual basis. In the case of illegal drug use or alcohol-related arrests, an applicant
must show that he or she has at least one year clean and sober. If you are found ineligible due to
your criminal history, you will have the right to a hearing in which you can demonstrate that you no
longer engage in criminal behaviors, and if necessary that you have sufficient clean-and-sober
